Introduction
Beyond the Peel was inspired by my desperate need for a holiday, and
since I can’t yet go on one the next best thing is to design a website
about WA’s premier holiday destinations. The primary purpose if this
site is to educate people about the down south region and the many
amazing local events and places to visit. It aims to engage the user
with information about each region and pre planned holiday guides that
they can follow. The idea is to make planning and taking a holiday as
easy as possible and present as many opportunities and activities as
possible without overwhelming the audience.
The Audience
A site such as this can have a wide appeal to many audiences,
everyone needs a holiday and during these covid ridden times
people are being encouraged to holiday within WA. The demographics
who are most likely to holiday down south are families with young
children, couples and groups of young adults and as such these are
the demographics we targeted.
Project Goals
• Educate people about the down south region
• Inform of local events and activities
• Streamline and make easier the planning process
• Encourage users to sign up and create an account
• Present a sleek minimalist and professional design
The Name
The name Beyond the Peel was inspired but the numerous covid briefings we
have heard over the last year. This was the first time I had heard parts of
WA being referred to as the ‘peel’ and I was inspired to use this in the name
of the site. A small piece of covid to take with us. Of course, the down south
region is not considered part of the peel and so the only logical name then was
Beyond the Peel. This was a more unique way to describe the area without having
to rely on more common phrasing such as ‘down south’ or the name of a specific region.
