Introduction
This is perhaps the most challenging project I have worked on to date.
Coding has never been my forte but I’m not one to back down from a challenge.
The project itself had several mandatory requirements and features and working
within those created many challenges, especially when attempting to style elements.
It was however a great learning experience working in and around a prebuilt framework.
The Audience
A site such as this has the potential to appeal to a very broad audience,
as it is often an assumption that women like getting their nails done. This is
of course a rather large generalisation to man and an even larger audience to
cover. Keeping in mind that the primary purpose of the site is to help people
fine nail technicians and nail salons it was aimed towards younger women who
would be getting their nails done for the first time, however it was important
not to alienate other age demographics and men as getting ones nails done does
not discriminate between age or gender.
Project Goals
• Have a minimalistic layout
• Allow users to refine search through different
categories
• Allow users to save their favorite designs
• Connect salons with new clients
• Have 2 forms of interaction (user and
business)
The Name
When naming the project it was important to have something punchy and to the
point, this is a site intended to help people and having a long or hard to
remember name would make it difficult for people to re-use or find the site.
Nailed It fit perfectly a short simple phrase that’s easy to remember and works
on multiple levels, as a common phrase, name and indicator of how one feels once
they’ve found their new artist.
