Introduction

Teble was created for the 2021 Adobe Creative Jam at the start of the year and went on to place in the top 10. The challenge they put before us was to create a platform such as twitch or discord that would encourage users to join and become active members of a community while having the ability to learn/engage with a topic. The idea to create a hobby and skill builder was really inspired by the covid filled world that we live in as many people have been spending their lockdowns learning and building skills. We wanted to capitalise on this and encourage skill growth while being part of a community.

The Audience

Given the nature of the platform we created and the target audience of similar platforms such as twitch and discord it was decided the best audience for this project was teens and young adults as they would already be familiar with platforms and designs such as this. We capitalised on some know design platforms on similar sites to ensure a seamless transition for users and encourage them to try the platform.

Project Goals

• Encourage users to learn and build skills
• Have a way for users to track their progress
• Give users incentive to keep building their skills
• Allow users to join and communicate with other people with similar interests

The Name

Working with a condensed time frame did put a lot of pressure when creating and designing our hobby and skill builder and one of the things we had to make a quick decision on was the name. We wanted something short and easy to remember as is becoming the standard for platforms such as this. After much trial and error, we settled on Teble (still pronounced table) with an extra ‘e’ to make it different and cool. We felt this was something a little different and out there that matched the vibe we were trying to create in our platform and when accompanied by the slogan “what will you bring?” in reference to the common saying “bring something to the teble” it gave a sense of what the platform would be about. People coming together and bringing their skills and joining a community.
